Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order placed a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public personalities expressed different responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and implied they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate could have acted when the impulse to speak on the tragedy was made.
