FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Game at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome the Bilbao team in La Liga 30 months after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside based on approved permits. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht next month in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
