Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
